Winter League Guidelines

Matches to be played by the end of March 2024 please.  No home AND away fixtures just one match to be negotiated between teams, either home or away - each team will therefore have a total of 5 matches to play in their Group.   There will be a final played over the weekend of 6th/7th between the two group winners and a 3rd/4th place playoff too if those clubs are willing.

 

Rules are as previous years - Men's 1st pair vs Men's 1st pair, Men's 2nd pair vs Men's 2nd pair and Ladies vs Ladies.  All matches are three sets in duration.   First set is worth 1 point, second set is worth 1 point, and even if a pair leads by two sets to love, the third set must be played.   To make that third set a little more interesting, the third set is worth 2 points.    The winners of the match is awarded 2 further bonus points.

 

For example, if pair A beats pair B by 6-4, 7-5, 3-6, pair A gets 4 points (1 point for each of their 2 sets and 2 bonus points for winning) and pair B gets 2 points for the third set.   If pair A wins all 3 sets, then it's 6 points etc.

 

You can play your home matches at any time, however, if you do want to play a match under floodlights, please liaise with your opponents and clearly outline what contribution you think would be fair to share the cost of the lights.  Home team shall provide balls please, thank you.
